Alfred John Singleton was born at Bootle in 1898, the son of William Guy Singleton and Margaret Frances (nee Rawlinson). He had one brother, Piercy Guy Singleton born 1902.
His parents were married on the 29th March 1897 at St.Philemon's C.of E. Church, Toxteth. Williamís address was 19 Park Street, Bootle at the time of his marriage.

1911 Census - 19 Park Street, Bootle - Grandparents John and Sarah Singleton with son James and son William Singleton who was married 14 years with 2 children born and alive; Alfred John and Piercey Guy (grandsons)
A report on his death appeared in the Bootle Times on the 9th March 1917. His photo appeared in the report and is reproduced here with the kind permission of the Liverpool Daily Post & Echo.
   Private Singleton, K.L.R., son of Mr. W.G. Singleton, 19, Park-street, Bootle, has died from shell wounds received in action on February 19th. He was an old Christ Church Higher Grade boy, and acted as hon. organist to S.S. John and James' Mission.
