William Evans was born in Oxton, Birkenhead in 1898.
He had siblings Ellen, Peter, Thomas, John and Frederick.


He was the son of William Evans and Lilly Eleanor Evans (nee Creber) who were both natives of Birkenhead.
His parents were married in a Civil Ceremony in Birkenhead in 1897 September quarter.
His father was a storekeeper at the docks on both sides of the river. The family moved to Bootle c 1902.

1911 Census: 10 Devon Street, Bootle. The family were still living at 10 Devon Street after the war.
William Evans' service records have not survived.
He enlisted in the army at Seaforth. His medal card suggests that he was posted overseas with the Cheshire Regiment after 1916. 
He was killed in action on 14th October 1918.
