Charles Conway Shaw was the son of Harry Clayton Shaw and Martha Ann (nee Hallworth) of Les Ombrages, Chemin de Capeyron, Caudcran, Gironde, France.
 
He was born at Rainhill near Liverpool in 1897. Joined 6th Battalion The King's Liverpool Regiment in November 1914.  
 
Probate of his estate was obtained at Liverpool on the 2nd April 1919 by his father, a works manager. His address was Birdigala, Ashton Drive, Hunts Cross and his effects were valued at 324 5s 7d (16,000 at current values.)
