Edward Joseph McKew was born at Kirkdale in 1899, the son of Edward Joseph McKew and Ann Jane (nee Mills) who were married at St.Mary’s C.of E. Church, Kirkdale in 1899. His parents were both born at Liverpool.
His mother was married twice, firstly to Isaac Baybut at St.Paul’s C.of E. Church, Kirkdale in 1895. She and her husband had one daughter, Edith, born in 1897 before Isaac died later the same year.
1901 Census - 127 Rosalind Street, Kirkdale - Parents Edward and Ann J with Tedded (Edward) born 1900 and John (1 day old) - Father was Engineer tug boats.
1911 Census - 82 Park Street, Bootle - Parents Edward and Ann Jane McKew – Married 12 years with 7 children born and 3 still alive - Edward age 11, Georgina and William McKew and stepdaughter Edith Baybutt age 14 and Charlotte Faulkner B 1851 (Cousin)
Edward Joseph junior enlisted in the army at Liverpool.
He was killed in action on the 1st July 1916.
