Thomas Kirwan was the son of John and Elizabeth Kirwan. The naval war graves roll gives his next of kin as his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Kirwan, of 119 Derby Road, Bootle.
He died when H.M.S. Alcantara was sunk in action with the German auxiliary cruiser Greif in North Sea on the 29th February 1916.
