John J Lynskey was born at Toxteth Park in 1887. He was the son of John Lynskey and Mary (nee White) of 143 Hill Street, Toxteth Park.
 
He died when H.M.S. Alcantara was sunk in action with the German auxiliary cruiser Greif in North Sea on the 29th February 1916.
 
His brother, Robert Lynskey, served with the Royal Field Artillery and died of Tuberculosis in 1918 after being discharged from the army.
 
Robert was buried in the family grave (SP 564) at Ford R.C. Cemetery. The Lynskey brothers are both remembered on the gravestone.
