Robert Briscoe was the son of Richard Briscoe and Elizabeth (nee Hornby) of 64 Shelley Street, Bootle.
 
His parents were married on the 9th February 1882 at Our Lady and St.Nicholas' C.of E. Church, Liverpool. 
 
Robert was born at Edge Hill and was baptised on the 3rd July 1889 at St.Nathaniel’s C.of E. Church, Edge Hill

1901 Census – 85 Gray Stret, Bootle - Parents Richard and Elizabeth with children William, Arthur, Robert, Charles and David 
 
1911 Census – 64 Shelley Street, Bootle - Parents Richard and Elizabeth with children William, Arthur, Robert, Charles, David and Alfred - Parents had been married 29 years with 9 children born and 6 still alive.
 
Robert Briscoe was a sailor in 1911. He was killed when the S.S. Drina was sunk by a mine off the coast of Wales on the 1st March 1917.
