John Eric Parsell was born at Bootle in 1898. His naval service records gives his date of birth as the 11th January 1895
He was the son of John Davison Parsell and Eleanor (nee Grayson) who were married in 1889 in Cumbria. His father was a master mariner.
Eric had two siblings, Henry Grayson Parsell who was born in Chile in 1890 and Marion Eleanor Parsell who was born at sea in 1891
1901 Census - 59 Hertford Road, Bootle - Mother Eleanor (Married) with children Henry G, Marion E, John E and servant Mary C Hodgson.
1911 Census - 103 Worcester Road, Bootle - Parents John and Eleanor with children Henry, Marion and Eric, and Mary Hodson, Maid. Parents had been married 22 years with 3 children born and still alive.
John Eric served in the Royal Naval Reserve. He was killed when the H.M.S. SImoom was torpedoed and sunk by a German destroyer in the North Sea on the 23rd January 1917.
His mother died at 10 Oarside Drive Wallasey, Cheshire in 1935 and his father at 1 Russet Road, Weaverham, Cheshire in 1955.
