Harry Foat was the son of Harry Foat and Jane Foat (Nee Forshaw) His parents were married in Liverpool in 1878. Harry had siblings Gertrude, Florence, Emily and Frank H

1911 Census: 10 Denmark Street, Waterloo - Harry is with his married sister Florence Hughes and his widowed mother Jane
 
Harry married Emily F Roberts in 1911 at St John’s, Waterloo - Emily re-married in 1916 to Thomas Smith at St Andrew’s Bootle. She lived at 16 Cottier Street, Litherland, after the war.  
 
Harry Foat enlisted at Bootle and was killed in action on 19th October 1914   
 
A request for information concerning his fate appeared in the Liverpool Echo on the 24th August 1915. His photo appeared in the report and is reproduced here with the kind permission of the Liverpool Daily Post & Echo.
 
The report in the Liverpool Echo reads "Private H. Foat, 7067 2nd Royal Irish, whose wife resides at 11 Cottier street, Linacre, Bootle, has been missing since October 19 last. Any information concerning him would be gratefully received at the address named."
