John William Cheshire was born and resided in Bootle and enlisted in Seaforth. His parents, John Cheshire and Mary Hannah (nee Martin), were married in 1884 at St Paul’s C.of E. Church, North Shore, Kirkdale.
 
1901 Census:  – 1 Aber Street, Bootle  -  Parents John and Mary H Cheshire with children John W, Margaret E, Emily, and Francis  - John W was a Ship Scaler born 1885
 
1911 Census:  -  17 Campbell Street, Bootle -  Parents John Cheshire and Mary H with children Maggie, Emily, Frank, Matthew, May and Christopher. (states married 26 years with 12 children born and 6 alive (Should read 7 alive counting John W)  One of the deceased children was Thomas Heywood Cheshire who was born on the 23rd October 1886 and baptised on the 14th November1886 at St.Mary’s C.of E. Church, Bootle
 
John William married Mary McConville in 1909.  
 
1911 Census: - 58 Kirk Street, Bootle - John with wife Mary (Married 1 year) and children James born 1910 and John W aged 2 months. The family were still at this address after the war.  
 
John William Cheshire was buried in a Soldier's War Grave (Section RD) at Ford R.C. Cemetery on the 16th November 1918. His place of death was given as Bodelwyddon Military Hospital and his age as 34 years.
